Oxford Archaeology has a long history of work on large-scale road and rail infrastructure projects. The linear nature of these schemes offers unparalleled insights into past human activities at a landscape scale. Linear schemes may comprise parallel phases of archaeological investigation in various locations across the landscape at any given time. Expert project management is therefore essential. Oxford Archaeology’s work as part of the COPA Joint Venture on HS2 demonstrates how the close collaborative management of multiple project constraints can lead to nationally important results. The Caernarfon bypass project provides another example of Oxford Archaeology’s renowned project management capabilities.
